Another name for braces treatment is orthodontic treatment, and it is a treatment method for people with damaged or crooked teeth. As a result of this treatment, the teeth of the person gain a more aesthetic appearance. Its appearance can sometimes be uncomfortable, but using the right braces is very important for the healthy progress of the treatment.

What are the Benefits of Braces Treatment?

It causes the problems of narrowness and shortness in the chin to be solved. In this way, a suitable space is created for the teeth of the person and the teeth come to the correct position. A suitable area is created for the development of the teeth and the tooth is brought into the correct position.

Since straight teeth chew food better, braces treatment provides relief of the digestive system and the person spends less effort during chewing.

Crowded teeth are difficult to clean, so food may remain between the teeth. Later, the tooth starts to decay, but since the teeth are in the correct position with braces treatment, cleaning becomes easier and the possibility of caries formation is reduced.

After braces treatment, the person’s mouth, face and lip shape improves. In addition, there is an improvement in the speech of people who are treated, because speech occurs as a result of the movements of the tongue in the mouth, and dental disorders affect speech.

When some orthodontic problems progress, surgical intervention is required. To avoid such a situation, the person should be treated with braces.

Braces treatment is also a method frequently used by people for cosmetic smile design. In this way, the self-confidence of the person increases.

What are the Types of Braces?

Metal Braces: It is the most durable type of braces. It may be aesthetically disturbing, but it brings the person’s treatment to a conclusion as soon as possible.

Porcelain Braces: It is not as durable as metal wires, but it is more aesthetically preferred because it has a transparent structure. Porcelain braces are among the most used types in braces treatment.

Lingual Braces: Porcelain braces are preferred from an aesthetic point of view, but their presence is still noticeable when viewed from the outside. Lingual braces, on the other hand, are especially preferred by adults because they are attached to the back of the teeth.

Wireless Orthodontics (Transparent Plaque): Transparent plaques are preferred by people who do not want to use braces. It is a type of braces that is generally used in the treatment of minor dental problems.

How Is Braces Attached?

First, the person is examined and the actions to be taken are determined. If there is any other problem in the teeth of the person before the braces are attached, they are eliminated because the teeth cannot be intervened after the braces are attached. Then, with the help of a plastic tool , the contact of the teeth with the cheek and lip is prevented. The name of this tool is retractor.

Brackets are adhered to the previously dried tooth surface and after each bonding, the adhesive is hardened with blue light. Then the rectactors are removed and the treatment process is completed.

The orthodontist monitors the treatment by examining the person every month throughout the treatment and makes adjustments to the braces when necessary.

The duration of treatment varies from person to person. The treatment is completed in an average of 1 to 3 years. After treatment, the orthodontist may ask some people to use support retractor devices called retainers for at least 6 months.
