Zirconium Coating

Zirconium coating is the process of applying a white color composite instead of the gray metal composite applied in known porcelain bridges and prostheses. It is mostly used for tooth decay, but it is also used for people who want to have an aesthetic smile. Compared to other veneer applications, zirconium is the preferred veneer type, especially for anterior teeth.

It is applied almost the same as other dental veneer treatments. This veneer application is also applied to the teeth where minor corrections and changes will be made. During the application, the person is informed by the physician. Then the tooth color is chosen together. With these corrections, the tooth is reduced and the veneer is placed on it.

When the gaps of tooth loss are large, zirconium veneer is not preferred because there is no tooth supporting the zirconium, so the risk of breakage in the veneers in between increases. In addition, this application is not preferred because bone development continues in people under the age of 18.

What are the Advantages of Zirconium Coating?

We can list the advantages of zirconium coating as follows:

  • It has a very strong structure and is resistant to corrosion. In addition, due to its light transmittance, it adapts to the main teeth and gives a natural appearance.
  • Another advantage is that it is matched with the gums. For example, after metal coating applications, slight bruises occur on the gums, but this is not the case with zirconium coating.
  • If necessary oral care is done, color change is not seen. The surface of zirconium crowns is quite slippery and smooth. For this reason, tartar formation does not occur on the teeth.
  • It minimizes the sensitivity that may occur in the tooth.
  • Since the aesthetic appearance is very important, especially in the anterior teeth, zirconium coating; It is preferred for its natural appearance, color and light transmittance.

To Whom Can Zirconium Coating Be Applied?

Zirconium veneer is applied to broken or crooked teeth, those who are allergic to metal-supported veneers, people with sensitive gums, decayed teeth, people who care about aesthetic appearance, or if the teeth create a negative upward image due to gingival recession.

How to Care for Zirconium Coating?

Teeth with veneer application can be brushed like normal teeth brushes. Routine oral care should not be neglected and regular physician controls should be made every 6 months. Necessary measures should be taken for problems that may arise.

Porcelain Laminate

It is a type of coating that is applied only after a thin corrosion process applied to the outer surface of the teeth or sometimes without any corrosion.

In which cases is the Porcelain Laminate Process Applied?

  • In the teeth that have no results after the whitening process and that are colored,
  • In joining separated teeth,
  • In the correction of broken or corroded teeth,
  • In teeth with poor structure and shape,
  • Porcelain laminate process is applied in the repair of old fillings.

What are the Advantages of Porcelain Laminate Implementation?

A person can achieve a healthy and aesthetic smile in a short time with a small intervention. These coatings contain colorfast and durable materials. For this reason, it is not affected by color-giving factors such as tea, coffee or cigarettes. Finally, it is very resistant to corrosion.

How to Care for Porcelain Laminate?

First of all, in addition to regular brushing, dental floss and mouthwash should be used regularly. In order not to break the coating, behaviors such as tearing food with the front teeth should be avoided, and those with teeth clenching problems should use night mouthguard. In addition, 6-month regular doctor check-ups should not be interrupted.

Ceramic Coatings

Ceramic coatings, also known as full ceramic coatings, are the repair of cavities and fractures caused by the loss of substance in the teeth. Ceramic coating is applied for single aesthetic tooth coatings or for bridge applications where there are 1-2 missing teeth and for teeth with too much material loss that laminate cannot be made.

In Which Situations Is Ceramic Coating Not Preferred?

These veneers are not preferred for the elimination of missing teeth. In addition, it is not recommended to apply ceramic coating to root canal treated teeth.

In Which Situations Is Ceramic Coating Preferred?

In case other methods cannot be applied to cover gapped teeth, ceramic coatings are applied to extend the tooth length or to cover the teeth for aesthetic purposes only for people with tooth discoloration. In addition to these, it is preferred in teeth that have been physically and chemically corroded over time, when multiple restorations are required and in smile design.

What are the Advantages of Ceramic Coatings?

Compared to other coatings, there is less corrosion on the teeth during this implementation. People with ceramic coatings have low sensitivity to hot-cold. In addition, since it has very good light transmittance, it causes a natural appearance.
